SkillCell is developing a range of tests to detect the main endocrine disruptors / pesticides used in agriculture and industry in food and drink. Our aim is to help consumers and professionals better understand and control the agri-food products they eat and produce.
The company is specifically focusing on several chemical compounds suspected to have an impact on human health and / or on the environment:
- Glyphosate, a widely used herbicide of which the impact on human health is widely discussed;
- Chlordecone (Kepone), a highly toxic insecticide that was mainly used in the Caribbean and the USA;
- Neonicotinoid insecticides, suspected to be partially responsible for the decrease in bee population.
The first reliable, fast and easy glyphosate test kit
Glyphosate is currently used as an active substance in Plant Protection Products (PPPs). It is the most frequently used herbicide both worldwide and in the EU and has been used for several decades.
Glyphosate is highly controversial because of its potential carcinogenic effects. This subject is widely discussed by the scientific community but no clear consensus seems to have been reached at this point. Moreover, Glyphosate is prompting a debate on the future of agriculture in the 21st century and beyond, raising the questions of feeding the world population and protecting human health at the same time.
SkillCell is in the process of finalizing the first reliable, fast and easy test kit to detect and measure glyphosate critical thresholds in food and drink.
We plan to commercialize our Glyphosate test kit in 2023!
